As we mentioned a couple days ago, Iowa is out west in Oklahoma competing in the Junior duals, with the last two days being in the Greco-Roman style. After taking it to Georgia Red and Team Missouri, Iowa advanced to the Pool B finals where they faced a good Utah team. Unfortunately in the pool finals Iowa only managed to win three matches against Utah (although Hawk fans will be excited to know one of them was recruit Mitch Bowman), and lost 50-14. Still Team Iowa wrestled well enough to earn a trip to the Gold/Silver pool for yesterday’s action.
Then it got ugly, as Iowa went 0-4 to finish 8th place in the tournament. Iowa was only able to pick up four wins in their first two pool matches against some really good teams in Illinois and Oklahoma, and subsequently lost by scores of 58-7 and 52-13 respectively. Iowa followed that with a 41-24 loss to Florida which set up their 7th place match with Team Maryland. Iowa was much more competitive in their final match only losing 36-32. Iowa recruits Mitch Bowman finished 3-3 and his future teammate Logan Ryan finished 1-1. Team Iowa will have both a Blue and a Red team for the freestyle portion taking place this weekend.
Mark Reiland tweeted out this picture to show off the Greco-Roman team’s accomplishment.

Team Iowa Blue will be taking on Michigan Red in Pool A, and Team Iowa Red will be taking on Texas Red in Pool D. Trackwrestling will have updates, and of course Flowrestling will be live streaming the action if you have FloPro. A look at the two teams competing in Freestyle today:
