Iowa State freshman Marcus Harrington had a great showing in juniors placing 3rd in the 96 kg weight class. Harrington won three matches by technical fall before falling 15-14 to eventual champion Anthony Cassar of Penn State. Harrington stormed back with two more technical falls to take the bronze.

Another Iowa State freshman, Renaldo Rodriguez-Spencer placed 6th at the 70 kg weight class. Renaldo lost 2nd round to eventual champion Archie Colgan, then came back to make the consolation semi-finals. Renaldo then injury defaulted out of the tournament to a 6th place finish. Dante Rodriguez added to a 2nd place Greco performance with an 8th place freestyle performance. Rodriguez won three matches before dropping his quarterfinal bout. Rodriguez won his first wrestle back, then injury defaulted to 8th place.

UNI red shirt freshman Joshua Alber also placed 7th at the event.  Alber finished the tournament with a 5-2 record, winning three front side matches before falling to eventual finalist Mitchell McKee. Alber won a match to secure placing before dropping a bout to former Sergeant Bluff prep Colton McCrystal.

Former Southeast Polk standout Jake Scanlan placed 3rd at the event, coming back strong on the backside after losing 2nd round. Scanlan finished the tournament with a 6-1 record at the heavyweight weight class.

Sergeant Bluff grad and current Nebraska wrestler Colton McCrystal finished the tournament with a 3rd place finish. McCrystal lost in the 2nd round only to come back and defeat 6 straight opponents for the bronze medal.
