Wartburgs bid for its 5th straight national title was shutdown by rival Augsburg in a tight team race. The Auggies won the tournament with 100 points, outlasting the Knights 89.5 points. Coe and Luther both had respectable tournaments coming in at 7th and 9th. The Knights were powered behind 149 pound champion Kenny Martin, and runner up Devil Peterson (184). Wartburg led most of the tournament, and managed to place 8 of its 9 qualifiers, but couldn’t muster enough points for the championship. Augsburg was powered behind two champions in Mike Fueffinger (125) and Donny Longendyke (285). Coe All-Americaned 3 of its 5 qualifiers and 165 pounder Farai Sewera brought home the title. Luther was lead by finalist Drew Van Anrooy at 141 pounds, and also have 3 wrestlers coming home as All-Americans.Central college brought home 2 All-Americans as well.
