Last year IAwrestle introduced the Night of Conflict event held inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The event featured 16 matches in which some of the best talent the state of Iowa high school wrestling had to offer went toe-to-toe with others from around the country. This year we are shaking things up!
Making his debut at the Night of Conflict will be none other than New Hampton state champion, Keaton Geerts. Geerts has had a monster year, that really started last summer where he finished one win short of All-American status at Fargo. Since then he has won a state title, and medaled at national tournaments like UWW Cadets and FloNationals.
His opponent will be a familiar face to the Night of Conflict in Illinois prep Jason Renteria of Oak Park River Forest High School. A former Hawkeye recruit, Renteria downed Bettendorf prep Jack Wagner 7-5 in one of the evening’s main bouts. Renteria has since de-committed from Iowa.
The matchup was announced on this week’s episode of Potentially Dangerous. Stay tuned to all things IAwrestle for more matchups and news regarding this year’s event!
Flowrestling ranks Renteria #2 at 132, and Geerts at #11.
