For the second time this season, #2 ranked Bobby Telford has been named the Big Ten conference wrestler of the week. This is the fourth week that a Hawkeye has earned the honor this season, with Brandon Sorensen earning the honor twice in January (second time).
Telford is coming off a weekend that saw him defeat two top 15 wrestlers, with the first being Maryland’s Spencer Myers, who was ranked #13. Telford picked up a 4-0 win over Myers in a 33-3 rout of Maryland. Following that performance Telford earned a 3-0 decision over #6 Jimmy Lawson of Penn State to close out the 18-12 team victory.
Earlier this year Telford gained the weekly award for his Midlands tournament victory where he defeated then #1 ranked Mike McMullan.
Up next for the wrestler of the week will be another top 10 matchup between #7 Adam Coon, as Michigan heads to Iowa City for the final Big Ten dual of the year.
