Cooper Moore Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

UNI Panther Cooper Moore was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, after he defeated number nine Tanner Weatherman from Iowa State. Moore was ranked 13th at the time, and scored a 3-1 victory over Weatherman in sudden victory. The win gave the Panthers a 16-12 lead in the dual, but they would fall to the Cyclones 18-16. Moore is 11-5 overall this season and still perfect against MAC foes at 4-0.

The two were tied at 1 going to sudden victory, when Moore locked up a cradle, and upon review, was awarded the two points for a takedown to win. The win avenges a loss by pinfall to Weatherman earlier this season at the Cliff Keen Invitational.

Moore did not wrestle the next night against Kent State, suffering an ankle injury in the sudden victory period against Weatherman. UNI expects him to be set for the MAC tournament, where Moore is the two-time defending champion at 165 pounds.

Moore joins fellow Panthers Trevor Jauch and Bryce Steiert as MAC Wrestlers of the Week.
