IAwrestle is pleased to announce that our “War at West Gym” event will be returning to Cedar Falls on Saturday, March 16th. The event will once again be held in the University of Northern Iowa’s West Gym and will pit some of the state’s top talent against one another, as well as feature talented wrestlers from across the country.
Last year’s event featured 13 high school matches. This year’s event figures to follow a similar format including the dual implementing a pushout in the folkstyle rule set.
Fans are able to purchase tickets at the door, but are encouraged to buy in advance on EventBrite. Tickets can be purchased for $10 or $50 VIP Package is available. Email Tony Hager at iawrestlecontact@gmail.com for more information.
For those unable to attend the dual a live stream will be available on Trackwrestling. For our Season Pass subscribers the “War at West Gym” event is already included in the $65 initial fee, but fans will also have the option to purchase the stream for a one time $10 fee.
IAwrestle is also announcing the first matchup at this time, which will feature two girls who recently won titles at the IWCOA girls high school state championships.
Freshman Sydney Park of Davenport Central enters the event fresh off of winning the 126 pound state title. She has a long list of accomplishments to go along with her state title. Park enters the event as a two-time Brute/Adidas Nationals Champion, 2018 USA Folkstyle State Champion, 2018 USA Freestyle State Champion, 2018 Midwest Nationals Runner-Up College Division & 2018 AAU Junior Olympics Gold Champion.
Her opponent will be 120 pound IWCOA state champion Chloe Clemons of Cedar Rapids Jefferson. Clemons, a junior, has only been competing since seventh grade and has been a place winner at Flo Tulsa girls Nationals, Iowa/USA Girls State. This season she won every girls division tournament entered. Clemons is also up for the inaugural Ms. Dan Gable Wrestler of the Year Award.

It does seem odd seem odd that we should buy tickets for an event without knowing who we will be watching.
Not if you have been to the event in the past. Over 100 have bought tickets already.
