Fareway Stores, Inc. and Body Armor present the Dan Gable Wrestler of the Year Awards in coordination with IAwrestle and IWCOA.

The IWCOA accepted nominations from high school coaches for student athletes in each of the three state wrestling classes, regardless of their year in school and weight class. A committee selected by the IWCOA recently provided IAwrestle with a list of 15 finalist candidates for public input.

Fans have the ability to vote once per day for their top wrestler in each class until January 14, where it will be narrowed down to the top 7. (Top voted wrestler receives a nomination)

Another round of voting will take place to determine the three finalists. The fan votes will count as ONE vote towards the IWCOA’s committee votes in EACH round. (For example: Wrestler A received enough votes to be in second but might not necessarily move on to the next round. IWCOA has selected 12 coaches and officials for this committee. The fan vote is the 13th vote to break up any ties.)

All finalists will be invited to the season end luncheon gala in late February, where a winner will be announced in each class.

The two runner-up student athletes in each class will each receive finalist award plaques. A duplicate Wrestler of the Year trophy and duplicate Wrestler of the Year runner-up plaques will be provided to each high school where finalists attend, for permanent placement in the high school trophy case.

  1. There is a problem with the voting & polling.
2nd round voting, I did not vote today & I just tried and keeps telling me they have my vote already.

Apparently others are having the same problem too.

This is 2nd round but I am not sure this wasn’t happening on 1st round voting as well.
    Please advise.

  2. How can the wrestler that came in 2nd place with approximately 7000 votes, not make it into the 2nd round of the 3A – Dan Gable Wrestler of the year 2019, but a wrestler not even on the original ballot did? We have a lot of family and friends who voted daily (although, not all of their votes were counted) who are very interested in the answer!!! We would really appreciate a response to this question as soon as possible!!!

    1. Who are you referring to that wasn’t on the original ballot. Please read what is written below.

  3. You have gotten so many complaints that it said you already voted and they didn’t already vote that I don’t understand how you can question people or ask people to try again these are people that probably may or may not know each other I know I complain about it and I don’t know most of the people that complain about it

  4. There were several days that I voted Annabelle wasn’t counted that I’d already voted and I had not. I know that the same thing happened to several people very frustrating cuz there was a lot of votes that were lost if you’re going to have a voting thing on the internet you need to make sure that it works correctly that’s only fair to all participants

  5. I voted for Nick Oldham of Valley High in West Des Moines. He’s such an Awesome Wrestler and trains hard and has since he was 5 yrs. Old. He has wrestled Nationals as well as won 1st last year in State meets in his Bracket. He is also my Grandson and a Sr. This year at Valley. It would be great for him to win this.💙🙏😁

  6. I wonder how a boy can be in the hunt that has not stepped on the mat for his senior season? How thing is a joke. Let the coaches vote only. One ballet per coach for his class only.. Now that I have an interest in…

    1. I did re-read and understand that the top vote-getter received a nomination. Can you shed any light on what is the committees criteria on the picking of the other 6 finalist to move to he 2nd round?

  7. This has not counted votes every 24 hours correctly the entire 2 weeks. We have had the same issue and comments as below. We are very close in our 3A division and it has definitely affected our wrestlers count!!!

    1. Can someone respond? How can the votes not count, but all of a sudden someone’s increases by 250 this morning alone?

  8. Your system must be down because not able to vote in any division or some has hacked and blocking votes. So unfair!

    1. I can assure you there is nothing blocking it. See how many other votes have came in for example. Try to wait for 48 hours which it’s only 24 to vote again. One vote per IP address a day per division.

      1. I think there was a problem because for three days it kept telling me I had already voted. Finally, today it worked correctly. This is very unfair to the boys nominated. In the case of the boy I am voting for, the votes are very close and it will make a difference on whether or not he moves forward.

  9. I know of 3 people who voted for a 3A wrestler and never got the votes. Explain why!!

          1. Home on my cell. Have been bnb outing since day one. This is the second time this happened but have other people mention that its happen to them. And hadn’t vote that day til then and got you’d already voted.

          2. Voted from home on my cell and it came up that I had already voted which I hadn’t. This has happen to several others as well. Unfortunately this isnt fair to the young man their voting for.

  10. […] An Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers varsity wrestler is in consideration for a prestigious annual award. Senior Andrew Flora is among 15 wrestlers in Class 2A in the running for the 2019 Dan Gable Mr. Wrestler of the Year award. The Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) and IAWrestle.com finalized the three classes of candidates, and the public has a chance to vote for their top wrestler daily through January 14. The seven wrestlers with the most votes advance to the next round of voting to pare down the list to three. The three finalists from each class receive an invitation to IAWrestle’s end of season gala, where the winners will be announced. 11. Your system doesnt show right away when votes have given. Hope this is on the up and up!

    1. It doesn’t seem to be adding up the votes correctly. I am wondering if this is the correct polling????

  13. this site isn’t friendly to security conscious web browsers. if you see the poll i suggest you update to most recent Firefox with security add-ons

  14. Are you supposed to be able to vote daily? It tells me thank you we have already counted your vote. 🙁

  15. Honorary wrestler award you should have and it should be Lincoln Coakley from Estherville

  16. How about Easton Graff in 2A. Probably beaten more #1s in his career than any wrestler in any of your lists.
