TULSA, Okla. – A total of 82 wrestlers earned the All-Tournament Team honor for the 2018 Junior National Duals held this past weekend. These talented athletes made the team by going undefeated in the two-day tournament with a minimum number of matches.
Across all three divisions, 25 states were represented.
For the women’s freestyle division, nine states were represented throughout the All-Tournament Team. Texas earned the most honors with seven athletes. Following behind was Florida with three athletes, and the remaining qualifying states totaled one athlete each.
The top record, 9-0, for the women was earned by 12 athletes: Jessica Corredor of Florida (100), Mia Palumbo of Illinois (106) Samara Chavez of Texas (112), Annamarie Crixell of Texas (117), Karoline Ortiz of Florida (122), Breanna Douglas of Kansas (132/138), Lexie Basham of Texas (138/144), Tiyahna Askew of Georgia (144/152), Kaylynn Albrecht of Texas (152), Shania Gowan of Florida (164), Sydnee Kimber of Alaska (164), Gabrielle Holloway of Texas (225).
Greco-Roman claimed 20 state representations with Minnesota in the lead with five athletes qualifying for the team. South Dakota came next with four athletes making the team. Tennessee and Washington collected three athletes each.
The top record for Greco-Roman came from five athletes earning 8-0: Joey Fisher of Pennsylvania (100), Gabe Dinette of Colorado (160), Jared Franek of North Dakota (160), Evan Bockman of Alaska (182/195), Chase Trussell of Utah (220/285).
Men’s freestyle presented 21 states to the All-Tournament Team. Iowa and Ohio claimed the most athletes with six wrestlers each. Illinois came next with five wrestlers, and behind them California, Minnesota, and Texas gathered three honors each.
Men’s Freestyle contributed the most athletes to the team with 14 wrestlers receiving 8-0: Nate Rubino of Nebraska (100), Joey Fisher of Pennsylvania (100), Ethan Wood-Finley of Iowa (106), Dominic Chavez of Texas (120), Bretli Reyna (126), Kyle Gollhofer of Georgia (126), Keegan O`Toole of Wisconsin (132), Frankie Tal-Shahar of Florida (138), Isaac Wilcox of Utah (152), Daniel Manibog of Texas (152/160), Jimmy Noel of Arkansas (170), Ben Sarasin of Iowa (170), Tate Battani of Iowa (170/182), Evan Bockman of Alaska (182/195), Wyatt Hendrickson of Kansas (195), Victor Jaquez of California (220), Nash Hutmacher of South Dakota (285) and Kaleb Reeves of Iowa (285).
For the men’s divisions, nine athletes made the team in both styles. Joey Fisher of Pennsylvania (100), Nate Rubino of Nebraska (100), Lucas Byrd of Ohio (120), Bretli Reyna of Florida (126), Daniel Manibog of Texas (152), Evan Bockman of Alaska (182/195), Wyatt Hendrickson of Kansas (195), Anthony Cassioppi of Illinois (285) and Nash Hutmacher of South Dakota (285).
Two wrestlers held the best record for the whole event. Joey Fisher of Pennsylvania (100) and Evan Bockman of Alaska (182/195) both earned a 16-0 record.
