Flowrestling is reporting that Iowa State signee Jarod Verkleeren of Pennsylvania has been granted his release. Verkleeren becomes the third wrestler in Iowa State’s 2017 class to be released by the Cyclones.

When new head coach Kevin Dresser took over the ISU program one of his top priorities was to try and retain some of the recruiting class Kevin Jackson and his staff had assembled. Things started well for Dresser with Illinois prep Austin Gomez re-upping his commitment, but Minnesota’s Jake Allar (Minnesota) and Maryland’s Ethan Smith (Ohio State) have already found new future homes.

Verkleeren is coming off his first career state title earlier this month and figured to be a factor in the Cyclone middleweights for years to come.

IAwrestle will keep you up to date as the situation develops and more details become available.
